Profile
After art school Mark took a bachelor's degree at Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds, where he studied Creative Arts; continuing to paint whilst working on set design for multi-media productions.
He then went into teaching, which gave him the opportunity to live and work in various parts of Europe and Scandinavia. Home, in between and after, was Highland Scotland, the countryside of which was the inspiration for a lot of his landscape painting. He is currently based in Lincolnshire, having moved there to complete a practice-based M A in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln.

"For me, composition is largely about taking the setting and distilling the imagery dow to the key features I want to depict, or the mood or message I wish to convey."
"Very often it comes from a process of reflection, making sense of experiences and observations through an, albeit large scale, visual journal - a kind of travelogue."
